Rep. Fred Upton faces pressure to hold town hall in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Local groups are part of a national movement to pressure Republican members of Congress to hold town halls in their home districts.

This week, Organize West Michigan and ProKzoo held a series of demonstrations outside the Kalamazoo office of U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph. The groups will host a town hall meeting at First Congregational Church, with or without Upton from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23.

Recent weeks have seen opponents of President Donald Trump pack town hall meetings hosted by Republican members of Congress. Others are publicly calling out lawmakers who have no public events scheduled during a congressional recess from Feb. 18-26.
